About the session

Sessions typically last between 1 and 1.5 hours, depending on the family, the children the session.  Session fees must be paid at time of booking.  Early evening when things cool down and the sun is starting to set is best (6:30 in the summer, 5:30 in the winter).  I try to avoid shooting in midday, the sun is just to harsh.

All prints are professionally developed. Portrait and storyboard are lustre coated for protection. Jheri Rowe Photography accepts zero responsibility for prints and/ or colour quality issues for product not printed within Jheri Rowe Photography labs.

Jheri Rowe Photography owns the copyright to all images taken and reserves the right to use said photos on website, promotional materials, Facebook fan page, etc.
Under no circumstances do I ever give out unedited images. Everything included on your disc is the best of the best. Thanks for understanding and booking your session.

Studio Sessions

Studio sessions will be done at my house.  During the summer months, morning is best, before the heat starts to rise, I do have air conditioning, but if we decide to do some out door shots it might be too hot. My studio is cozy.

Newborn Sessions

Newborn sessions can be easy or they can be challenging!  We are at the will of the baby! Babies comfort and safety are most important. A newborn session can typically last anywhere from 1.5 to 4 hours.  Newborn sessions must be scheduled in the first 2 weeks of life (barring unforeseen circumstances, please contact me if you have a situation or are unable to book in the early days) in order to get those sleepy, squishy poses.  These sessions require time and patience, but the results are always worth it! We can reschedule if baby is having a hard day.

What I work with

I am a strictly natural light photographer.  This means I do not own any sort of studio lighting at this point in time.  What this means for you is that if I am to come to your home, there must be enough natural light available for me to work.  In the event of inclement weather, your session will be rescheduled for a later date.

What happens after the session?

After the session, I will come home and immediately load your images/back them up on my computer.  Within a few days, there will be a sneak peak posted on my  blog. Approximately 2-3 weeks after your session, your disc will be ready. If you would like your photos posted in a private gallery we can arrange that.  Your gallery will be live for 3 weeks. There will be a $25 fee for reactivating the gallery. Prints can be ordered through my professional lab using professional equipment. Remember you are creating memories, why not make sure they are professional quality.

What to wear

Keep it Simple.  A portrait is a timeless piece of art. It is important to avoid wearing clothing that dictates the time.  Trends go in and out of style. Stick to wearing clothing that is classic and simple. Clothing that will be fashionable no matter when the portrait is viewed.  Avoid clothing with logos, phrases and characters, as it can look less like a portrait and will date the photo.

Avoid distracting patterns on clothing.  It will detract from your eyes/face, the real center of the photograph!

For families, it is best to coordinate style and color. It’s not necessary to all match, but coordinating clothing can add a lot to your portrait while still allowing each individual family members personality to shine through.

Newborn babies are best photographed in their birthday suits.  Because of their small size and the posing done, clothing tends to swallow up the baby and you lose them among the distracting clothing.

No sneakers, unless the type of shot calls for it (such as a basketball player in his/her gear).  It tends to pull the viewers eye to the feet instead of the face and is very distracting.

If you ever have any questions, please feel free to contact me!!  I will discuss with you your clothing choices and we can find something that will suit you and your family!
