looking back

I can’t believe how much has happened since my last blog post.  I can’t believe that as excited as I was to be posting those baby photos that my life would forever change the very next day.

You see my last post was March 18th, the day before I lost my mom.

March 19th started out like most other days, except this day I was headed to Michigan for work.  I had some meetings and had planned on being away a couple days.  I had let my mom know that I would be out of town for a few days, ( she always gave me heck if I left and never told her when I’d be home).  YES folks, at 45 she still worried about me!

We were at the border crossing when I got the call from my husband to tell me the dreaded news, that my mom had passed away.  I remember getting the call, thinking ok , what do you want, we are next in line, hurry up talk fast – Except he wasn’t talking fast, I could tell the moment I heard his voice that something wasn’t right.  He struggled to tell me the awful news.  Who knew that I would be 6 hrs away at the time I’d get the call?  I remember thinking this can’t be true, I just talked to her the night before, told her of my plans and when I’d see her again.  As the hours went on I realized this wasn’t a dream, this was in fact real, and I had just lost my best friend, I had just spoken to my mom and heard her voice for the very last time.

It’s been over two months since my mom has passed and there isn’t a day where I don’t think of her.  There isn’t a thread in my life that she isn’t a part of.

I know people don’t live forever and the circle of life is one we all must face and deal with.  I just didn’t know that my circle would come so unexpectedly.  That things would be “normal” one day and forever changed the next.    Just remember these fine words Garth Brooks sings of ….

If tomorrow never comes
Will she know how much I loved her
Did I try in every way to show her every day
That she’s my only one
And if my time on earth were through
And she must face this world without me
Is the love I gave her in the past
Gonna be enough to last
If tomorrow never comes

Make sure the people that you love know exactly how you feel!

We will be spreading my moms ashes beside my dad on June 9th, which would of been their 55th wedding anniversary.

It’s a crumble… a banana muffin crumble

I had a great weekend, I say had because although it’s a long weekend in Ontario, my employer decided to use this as an extra day at Christmas.  I hope everyone enjoys their long weekend.

Saturday was filled with edits, while the rest of my family worked.  My husband enjoyed yet another day of riding.  I don’t need to tell you about the lack of snow we’ve has so it makes me smile when he’s able to trailer to his friends and spend the day chalking up miles on his machine.  Even with the lack of snow he’s been able to put over 1200 miles on it this year.

Life has been busy for us both, each running in different directions so we decided earlier in the week that we would spend today together shopping and enjoying a late lunch.  We made the trek to Kingston where we took in the crowds at Costco.  I love that place, today was a cheap run for us, less the $200 bucks.  I’m proud of us…lol  After Costco we went to his favourite place… Princess Auto.   We strolled from store to store just enjoying the freedom of not having to be anywhere at any particular time… that was sort of weird really.  All that strolling lead us to Montana’s where we enjoyed a late lunch.  For those that follow my photography… I’m sorry I didn’t take a photo of my meal – Chicken Tacos.  They were delicious.

I’ve had many requests for the banana crumble muffins that I posted, so I thought this would be the easiest way to share the muffins.  Trust me they are just as delicious as they look.

You can print out a 4×6 here so easy to add to your recipe booklet.  See I was thinking of you.  Smile

Happy New Year l Stirling Area Photographer

from all of us!

My husband and a few friends spent the evening at the curling club in support of Kraft Hockeyville.  It was a late night but we had so many laughs.  As I think about last nights laughs, I think how incredibly blessed we are to have such great friends.  To all of you, thanks for a great night.

Stirling Area Family Photographer l Christmas time

I am hoping that Santa was good to all.  We had a wonderful Christmas filled with love and laughs.  Even though the kids had to work over the holidays and even though we are about a week behind in our Chinese Food tradition I still loved spending time at home and with them.  We will figure out when all of us will be home to enjoy the Chinese Food tradition, even if it’s in February..lol

My hubby is one happy man… because today we was able to take his new sled for a ride.  He  has had it for a few weeks now, but we (me) have been enjoying very mild temperatures and no snow.  It snowed a few day’s ago an it’s been freezing cold ever since, so he was able to get the ole girl out of the garage and do a few laps of the yard, before he took off to the neighbours field.

I gotta say… I do like the looks of this one… and the fact that it’s electric start.  That means that if I decide that I might want to freeze my butt off … I too can start her and take it for a rip.  Chances of that are pretty slim though..lol
